I’ve always thought of myself as a smart and frugal shopper. I read label, compare prices, look for coupon codes and special deals. I have no problem spending money on quality products that I will enjoy using.
I’ve been using the Covergirl Ready Set Gorgeous concealer for a few years now. It’s a great color for brightening, doesn’t crease and lasts most of the day.
Recently I went shopping at Ulta for a new concealer, maybe one with more coverage but the same brightening effect. What I walked away with, at the suggestion of the associate, was the Clinique Airbrush concealer in Fair for $20.50. That’s all fine and dandy although I did notice I had to use quite a bit to get the effect I wanted but whatever.
A couple of days ago I decided to look at the label on the Clinique concealer to give myself a rough estimate of how long it might last. 0.05oz. 0.05 oz? 0.05 oz!!! 0.05 oz for $20.50!!!
The Covergirl concealer is 0.37 oz for $7.99. That’s $21.59 per ounce.
The Maybelline Fit Me concealer is 0.23 oz $6.99. That’s $30.39 per ounce.
The Clinique Airbrush concealer is 0.05 oz for $20.50. That’s $410 per ounce! What?!?
Smart shopper fail on my part.
