This was my first ever Tarte purchase, can you believe it? I haven’t really been tempted since the reviews Tarte gets vary widely and none of their gimicky releases ever caught my eye. The sale prices certainly did though.

- The Rainforest of the Sea II eyeshadows are average. The pigmentation isn’t great so you find yourself having to use a lot to build color. I don’t think this would be a problem for beginners or people who want a quick everyday work neutral look. It’s pretty hard to mess up with this palette since the colors blend quite easily into one another. The compact itself is absolutely gorgeous and worth the money even if it was empty. In fact, after I’ve used what I want of the shadows I’ll probably depot the rest and maybe press a powder or highlight back into it.
- The lip duo is average as well. I love the faint cake vanilla smell of the lipsticks. They glide on easily and the gloss is very thick and sticky. They are nice neutral nudes.
- The Twinkle Highlight palette swatches horribly with your finger, powdery and chunky HOWEVER they apply beautifully with a brush. I was pretty disappointed i them until I tried applying with a brush. That middle color “Filtered Light” makes no sense as a highlight. It’s a matte ivory. I’ll probably use it as an eyeshadow base color though.
