Subscription box controversy alert!
Boxycharm announced their first ever Limited Edition box in November. At a cost of $44.95 this box was to have 8 items with a total value of over $200.
Initially this box was supposed to be released to subscribers first with the left overs offered to the general public. Through snafu or through design, they were released to the general public first which really pissed off some of the hardcore subscribers.
I was pretty meh about the whole thing. It’s a box. Would I pay $45 again for it? Although I do like some of the products, no.
Tarte Be your own tarteist eye & cheek palette – $38 ($19 on sale) I love Tarte packaging and the shadows are of average quality, lightly pigmented. Nothing special and now discontinued.
Becca First Light Priming Filter Face Primer mini – $18 I like this. It dries down nicely and doesn’t have that super slippery silicone feel to it. It’s very light weight and fragrance free. I might purchase a replacement is I find it on sale.
Sigma E35 Tapered Blending Brush – $17 Sigma brushes are always pretty nice. They are heavy and wash up really well. Minimal shedding, nice blending. They are also often on sale for 50% off so $17 is a stretch.
PUR Big Look Lengthening Mascara – $21 This is a super thin formula. I have to wipe off the applicator before use which, I’m sure, is adding some sort of bacteria into the tube. I have very little transfer and flaking though. Again, often on sale for half off.
Makeup Geek Full Spectrum Eyeliner Espresso – $9 Reasonably priced and fairly creamy.
Bareminerals Gen Nude Buttercream Gloss Popular – $18
CoverFX Custom Enhancer Drops Halo (missing in picture! Oops) – $42 Just the wrong color and type of product for me. Would be great on paler skin and someone younger (at heart).
