Smashbox X Vlada Highlighters (All 3!)

Smashbox teamed up with the awesome VladaMUA to create this collection based on her signature rose gold lip art. I purchased all 3 highlighters, 2 of which are available at and Ulta and 1 (Prismatic Petal) that is exclusive to Sephora. They retail for $39.

  • Order #1 – Rosemantic and Gilded Rose highlighter $71.43 (I was overcharged $3 for each item which they eventually refunded)
  • Order #2 – Photo Finish Petal Metal Primer $31.20

  • Pre-ordered 4/8
  • Order #1 (highlighters) & #2 (primer) expected ship 4/13
  • Order #1 actually shipped 4/17 received 4/20
  • Order #2 ???

So, yeah. My Primer order is in limbo somewhere with an expected ship date of 4/26. I literally could have walked into an Ulta on 4/14 with my 20% off coupon and had all of these products in my hands that day. Considering the “pre-order” allowed Smashbox to gauge the quantity they would need on release, they should have been well prepared. What was the point?

These are lovely highlighters. They are soft but not dry or powdery and apply beautifully with my Wayne Goss Holiday brush. Rosematic and Gilded Rose are very subtle with a natural shimmer and Prismatic Petal is more bold with a gorgeous pink and gold shift, definitely more on the glittery side.

The packaging is sturdy and well made although, if you’re like me, you’ll be obsessively wiping fingerprints off the compact. I’m not quite sure why the Sephora exclusive has such a different design on the case but it is still quite pretty.

I’m very interested in the primer as it seems to be a bit of a different formula and is NOT silicone based. Hopefully I’ll see that sometime in 2018.

10/10 would buy all 3 highlighters again, but definitely not from Smashbox directly.

  1. I’m pretty sure I’m going to buy this solely for how it looks! 😂 But I do love the look of gilded rose!

    • 🙂 I’m glad I’m not alone. I’ve been wearing them since I got them and they really are nice and start off subtle but I do most enjoy looking at them in the compact LOL.

    • Isn’t that the weirdest thing? I could see maybe varying the colors or something, the only thing they have in common is the size & shape. The Sephora has a sort of resin overlay. Both are beautiful but look like they came from totally different collections.
